Abaja Harbour

Abaja harbour and recreation area are located on the western coast of Saaremaa, near the village of Kihelkonna – a community-developed and -maintained hub of maritime lifestyle, where tradition, natural beauty, and modern opportunities meet. The harbour offers mooring spots and access to the open sea and is home to various community events and activities. The recreation area is open to everyone – it hosts sailing training, outdoor lessons for kindergartens and schools, picnics, midsummer bonfires, concerts, and the traditional rowing competition.

Abaja Puhkeala MTÜ is a community organization that manages and develops the harbour and recreation area. Our goal is to support the sustainable development of the Kihelkonna region by bringing people to the sea – whether they are fishermen, families, young enthusiasts, or visitors from afar. The NGO is committed to preserving the local maritime culture and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to be part of the sea and the community.
